I thought I would post some useful links, so that I don't forget them and to share the knowledge in my quest to tame the tiger

  • Couldn't agree more with you, http://java.boot.by/scjp-tiger/ is a really fantastic site - it saved the exam for me, because I had an 1.4 study guide (Sierra/Bates) and they changed quite a lot of things between the 1.4 and 5 exams. I discovered the site the evening before the exam, which gave me quite a night :-)

    The new exam has a lot of threading questions and a few about general things like classpath resolution or the command line of the java executable. The ones concerning flow control (especially in combination with threading) are quite tough!

    You are certainly right about things changing alot between Java 4 and Java 5. I did a blog entry talking about it

    Marcus Green reckons there is 30 percent new material. One thing I have found is that a lot of the links and resources found on the internet, especially preperation notes and mock exams are all for 1.4.

    I have got the new Sierra/Bates book and it is brilliant and I am currently slogging my way through it. The one thing I am glad they took out of the exam was the bitwise operator questions, I still can't figure them and to be honest why would you need/want to.
